Serious pneumococcal infections are a major global health problem and are vaccine-preventable.

PneumoADIP Activities

PneumoADIP Approach

PneumoADIP organizes its activities around three main areas of focus.

Surveillance and Research

Establishes the value of vaccination: first by demonstrating the burden of meningitis and pneumonia caused by pneumococcal bacteria and then by demonstrating the value of prevention through vaccination.

Communications and Advocacy

Ensures that the information about pneumococcal disease burden and vaccine value reaches key decision makers both in the countries in need of interventions and in donor countries.

Vaccine Access and Implementation

Delivers the value of the vaccine by assuring that there is a predictable supply of quality vaccine at an affordable price, an adequate system to deliver it to the children who need it, and the financing to sustain its use.

The Pneumococcal vaccines Accelerated Development and Introduction Plan is based
at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is funded by GAVI Alliance.
